The Organizing Committee presented, Monday, October 17, the Paris 2024 volunteer program to which the general public will be able to apply from February 2023.
Alexandre Morenon assures him: the 45,000 volunteers from the Olympic and Paralympic Games will “live the experience of a life”. The director of volunteers of the Paris Organizational Committee 2024 (COJOP) presented, Monday, October 17, a program “which aims to be open to all”. Only three conditions are necessary to apply: to be at least 18 years old at 1 er January 2024, speak either French or English, and be mobilized at least ten days during the Olympic or Paralympic Games.
“The objective is to have a representativeness of French territory, even if we will also welcome international volunteers, he explains. We therefore want to have as many men as women, as well as people in Handicap situation. “
All those who wish to become volunteers will be able to apply on a platform from February 2023, for six weeks. They will then have to fulfill a questionnaire on their motivations and their personality, which will tell them the missions which best correspond to them according to their answers. “The majority of missions do not require skills”, specifies Alexandre Morenon.
Above all, there will be something for everyone since 60 % of these missions will be at the service of “the quality of lived experience”, a third in the service of sports performance and 5 % will consist in supporting and facilitating the ‘organization. To this team of 45,000 volunteers, will be added 5,000 volunteers selected by the City of Paris, which will carry its own volunteer program.
of potential candidates already identified
The partners of Paris 2024, French sport federations, host communities and communities labeled land of games 2024 have already identified a certain number of potential candidates, who will be able to apply in January 2023.
This is the case of Seine-Saint-Denis, which created the “all and all volunteer” platform, in particular to encourage young people to embark on the adventure. “Fifteen percent of the candidates are students, 40 % are between 16 and 30 years old and around fifty people with disabilities were identified by the reception structures, rejoices Mélanie Morgeau, deputy director of the delegation of the Olympic Games and Games Paralympic at the Departmental Council. The platform offers them training, volunteer missions so that they can prepare and put themselves in the dynamics. “
Another example on the side of the French Table Tennis Federation (FFTT). The emphasis was placed on people from the sports movement: “We have involved all of our local structures to mobilize licensees who would like to be volunteer, explains Mickaël Mevellec, national technical advisor to the FFTT. We wish to favor those who are very involved in their sporting practice. “
When they have been selected – in principle by fall 2023 -, the 45,000 volunteers – including nearly 3,000 people with disabilities, wishes the cojop – will follow online and face -to -face training . If Paris 2024 has subscribed to accident insurance to cover those who are not insured, the organization will not take care of the accommodation and the transport of those who come from distant regions.
Faced with criticisms of calling on volunteers rather than hiring employees for the requested missions, Alexandre Morenon also explained that it has established “a charter”, in consultation with the state services concerned . “We worked together for months to define the missions which came under employee work and those which were volunteer, and which could therefore be entrusted to volunteers,” he justified.
