The strike movement scheduled for next week at the SNCF could make the oil stain. The third representative organization within the public enterprise, the Sud-Rail union, will in any case offer the railway workers a renewable strike from Tuesday October 18, an interprofessional strike day to claim an increase in wages, organized in the Sillon of the social movement which affects refineries and oil depots.
“We will make general assemblies on Tuesday, October 18 everywhere in France and we will ask the question of the renewable strike,” said, on Sunday, at the France-Presse agency, Fabien Villedieu, South union delegate- Rail. According to him, this first day of SNCF mobilization “will be the first test, [because] it is already necessary that a strike is walking well on the first day. Chances are that it renews quite overall until Wednesday”.
“The justice of the peace will be the railway worker,” he said, adding that his union demands an increase of “400 euros net in addition per month”, despite the granting by the management of the SNCF, Last July, an average increase of 3.7 % for small wages and 2.2 % for executives, after a day of strike which had disrupted departures on summer vacation.
“They say to each other: the next ones are us”
Asked about possible disturbances that this movement could cause on the school holidays of All Saints’ Day (which are spread from October 22 to November 7), Mr. Villedieu estimated that “the strike creates disturbances, this n ‘is not a scoop “. But according to him, with “the strike [which] begins Tuesday, [and] departures [on vacation] Friday”, that leaves “a few days of negotiations” possible for the direction of the SNCF.
As of Thursday, the CGT-Cheminots, the first SNCF union, called for the expansion of the social movement in the rail sector, two days after the first personnel requisitions in oil refineries and deposits. “We are going to respond to the call for the enlargement of the mobilization,” said the world Laurent Brun, secretary general of the union.
“The railroad workers are planning a lot in wage demands and they are also repulsed by the requisition. They say to themselves: the next ones are us”, he had supported, before sketching too the possibility of a Reconductible strike: “We will be on strike on Tuesday October 18 and perhaps even from 18.”
Only the UNSA rail has said not wishing to join the movement. “We want to mobilize in a unitary manner on pensions, but on wages, this is a business issue,” said a head of the second railway worker on Thursday.
