While the magistrates are preparing to put him indictment of “extortion in organized gang” and “participation in an association of criminals for the preparation of a crime”, he repeats that he ‘was not present, on the night of March 19 to 20, in this apartment in Seine-et-Marne where the start of the case was played.
Mathias has an alibi. He was in a Defense hotel room (Hauts-de-Seine), miles from the place where his brother, Paul, one of the stars of the French football team and Juventus Turin, been robbed by two hooded and armed men, after being brought there by several childhood friends, four of whom were also indicted.
Investigators notably suspect Roushdane K., close to Mathias Pogba, of having been maneuvering. The robbers ordered Paul Pogba to pay 13 million euros, including 3 million euros in cash. A sum required in return for the alleged protection that the two hooded men at the French international would have ensured for years.
Turin escapade
During his police custody and before the investigating judges, Mathias Pogba gave his version of the facts. He said he learned that an incident took place that night much later on July 13. The story was, he said, reported by three defendants, Roushdane K., Machikour K., Boubacar C., and with a different story. The defendants have told him that they were themselves “robbing” and be victims, just like Paul Pogba, who would have committed himself under the threat, that evening, to “give a certain sum” to the two hooded men.
According to Mathias Pogba, it was to “have the version” of his brother Paul “opposite” that he went to Turin on July 14, with the other defendants, at the center of ‘Juventus training. But “he never went down. After five hours of waiting,” sighed Mathias. It was after this Turinian getaway from the five defendants that Paul Pogba will file a complaint in Italy on July 16. The Paris prosecutor’s office then opened an investigation in August.
In front of the instructing magistrates and the police, Mathias Pogba unrolled his version of the case, who knows several twists and turns after the Turin episode. He would in turn have “robbed” on July 30, in the presence of two defendants, in Roissy-en-Brie, by several men “dressed in black and hooded”. “Raise your hands, raise your hands. Tell your brother to find a solution,” said one of the robbers, so that he would intercede with Paul, so that the latter pays the promised sum. Mathias would not have “had the reflex to call the police”.
