Cycling: Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, first world champion in Gravel in history

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot became, Saturday October 8 in Venitia (Italy), the first world champion in Gravel in history (discipline which consists in driving mainly on non-tarred roads). Already world mountain biking champion cross-country and short-track at the end of August at Gets and world champion Marathon in September in Denmark, the Frenchwoman has ahead of the Swiss Sina Frei and the Italian Chiara Teocchi after 139.2 kilometers of Race between Vicence and Cittadella. “I knew that the beginning was more difficult and technical, so I made sure to stay forward, then motivate others to ride with me,” she commented after arrival.

The race quickly decanted when a group of five runners escaped. The Rémoise finally beat its greatest competitor in the sprint, Sina Frei, also from the cyclo-cross.

The men’s race will take place on Sunday with the headliner Mathieu van der Poel, who has not appeared in the race since her altercation with teenagers on the sidelines of September in Australia.
