GIMP Graphic Editor Completes Transition to GTK3 Library
The developers of the popular GIMP graphic editor recently announced the successful transition of their code base from GTK2 to the newer GTK3 library. In addition, they have implemented a new CSS-like system that allows for easier determination of styles within GTK3.
All necessary changes for assembly with GTK3 have been included in the main GIMP branch, an achievement that is part of the preparation for the GIMP 3.0 release. The team also plans to support Wayland, a processing API for scripts and plugins, and modernize the color management system by integrating the CMYK color space.
The revision of floating discharge concept is another ongoing task that needs completion before the anticipated GIMP 3.0 release. It is the default insert in the form of a new layer.
These advancements are exciting prospects for users of GIMP, and the team behind the software is dedicated to continuing their good work. More information on their progress can be found on their official roadmap.
