Ministry of Civil Academy of Sciences Proposes Creation of Unified System for Encrypting Citizen’s Personal Data
The head of the Ministry of Civil Academy of Sciences, Maksut Shadaev, has called for the creation of a unified system to encrypt personal data of citizens stored in the bases of departments. This is to help increase protection against possible leaks, according to Shadaev.
The state system accumulation of large volumes of data creates certain risks. As a result, it is necessary to remove some data from operational access and encrypt them properly. To achieve this goal, Minzifra proposes to audit personal data stored in department databases and remove what does not represent operational interest.
Shadaev stated that for making decisions, detail on each particular citizen is not required. However, if such a need arises, there should always be an opportunity to restore history through some kind of system of rules.
To improve cybersecurity, the possibility of leakage cannot be underemphasized, and less data leaks or more encryption and hashing makes a better solution.
The proposed creation of a unified system for encrypting personal data in departmental databases will go a long way toward protecting citizens against leaked information.
