Ministry of Education creates White Internet for ideal student world

Russian schools and colleges will be required to use state information systems (GIS) as part of their educational programs from January 1, 2023. This directive from the Ministry of Education has led to the creation of the “White Internet,” a separate internet network aimed at providing reliable and trustworthy content for schoolchildren.

Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov emphasized the importance of this step, stating that it will help ensure that students have access to content that is free of destructive information. Moreover, the Ministry of Education has already compiled a federal list of over 240 online resources that are approved for use on the primary general, basic general, and secondary general education levels. These resources span different types of learning materials, such as electronic courses, audio schools, simulators, training modules, and tests, and include copyright holders such as Akadkarniga/Textbook and Education, Physicon Lab, Interda, Ismart, and the FGAU DPO Academy of the Ministry of Education of Russia.

The Ministry of Education gained the right to approve the federal list of electronic educational resources in March 2022, which now places it fully in control of the formation and approval of all online resources for schools. Additionally, Minister Kravtsov stated that the Ministry has significantly changed its approach to textbook development and will continue to regulate the accuracy of the content.
