Underground Chinese Cybercrime Center Eliminated in New York

FBI Busts Chinese-run Underground Police Station in New York

Over 20 individuals have been arrested by the FBI for their alleged involvement in an underground police station located in New York. Authorities believe that the station was run under the leadership of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) and its officers were accused of using fake accounts to threaten, persecute and intimidate Chinese dissidents living in America.

The police station, which had been operating since February 2022, was discovered in New York’s Chinatown. Initially, two men from New York were arrested for their suspected involvement in the secret police station. These individuals were later revealed to be agents of the Chinese government. However, following news of the FBI’s investigation, the accused agents reportedly destroyed all evidence that could prove their communication with Chinese officials and reveal the extent of the operation.

Reports suggest that employees of the Chinese consulate had visited the site several weeks after its establishment. The “Chinese station” in Chinatown was allegedly created under the false pretext of offering public services to local residents.
