Apple’s geolocation error has caused the addresses of all lost devices in a Texas Big Houston district to point to one house. According to ABC News KTRK news agency, the resident of the house, Scott Schuster, has been inundated with 12 people attempting to access his house since Apple’s mistake. Schuster’s theory is that his house was exemplary for the district when it was first built and subsequently, Apple assigned every house in the area the same address, causing lost device geolocations to default to his address.
Schuster has reported the problem to Apple support, but the company has not responded or corrected the error. He is now considering taking legal action against the company. Apple has not yet commented on the situation.
The issue has caused significant distress to Schuster and his family, who have had their home peace violated by strangers attempting to access their home. Meanwhile, Apple continues to face criticism over the accuracy of its geolocation technology, with this latest incident adding to consumers’ dissatisfaction.
