Release Chrome 112

Google has announced the release of version 112 of its popular web browser, Chrome. The announcement coincides with the stable release of Chromium, the free project that serves as the basis for Chrome. Among the changes in Chrome 112 are updates to the “Safety Check” interface, which summarizes possible safety problems, including compromised passwords, malware checks, unidentified updates, and malicious additions. Additionally, the new version automatically reviews previously provided permissions for long-noted sites and provides options to turn off automatic recall and return recalled permissions.

The update also prohibits sites from setting the property document.domain to enforce same-origin conditions for resources loaded for different subdomains. If a communication channel is necessary between subdomains, users should use the postMessage() or API Channel Messaging. Chrome 112 continues support for the implementation of specialized web applications by Chrome Apps on Linux, MacOS, and Windows platforms. However, the announcement advises using separate web applications based on Progress Web Apps (PWA) and standard Web API technology instead of Chrome Apps.

Finally, the update addresses the processing of restraints on names in the built-in storage of root certificates of certifying centers, also known as the Chrome Root Store. For users who need more time to update, the Extended Stable branch is separately supported, accompanied by 8 weeks. The next issue of Chrome, version 113, is scheduled for May 2. Users can find more information about the changes in Chrome 112 on the Google Chrome blog and developer resource pages.
