NTC IT Rosa Releases Updated Rosa Fresh 12.4 Distribution

NTC IT Rosa has announced the release of an updated version of the Rosa Fresh 12.4 distribution. The new release, built on the Rosa2021.1 platform, was developed in collaboration with the Rosa Fresh 12.4 distribution community and is freely available for download.

The updated version comes with multiple options for free loading, including KDE Plasma 5, LXQT, GNOME, XFCE, and without GUI. Users who have already installed the Rosa Fresh R12 distribution will receive an update automatically.

The updated version features several significant changes, including:

  • The package base has been updated, with the Linux nucleus now at version 6.1.20 (previously delivered branches 5.10 and 5.15 continue to be supported).
  • Additional drivers for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, such as Realtek 8188gu, 8192du, 8723du, 8812au, 8814au, 8821au, 8821cu, 8852au, 88x2bu, rtw89 (8852ae, 8852be, 8853ce), rtk_btusb, and Broacom WL, have been updated.
  • The update includes improved support for Realtek wiring network cards on chips RTL8111, RTL8168, and RTL8411, for which a separate module of the nucleus R8168 has been introduced.
  • The Linux-Firmware package has been updated with the addition of the RTK_BTUSB-Firmware package to support additional equipment, primarily wireless cards.
  • Proprietary drivers for video cards NVIDIA 340, 390, 470, 510, 515, 520, and 525 have been updated. A command, “Sudo Kroko-Cli Autoinstall,” has been added to allow users to select and install the required version of the driver.
  • Updates and console reference indicators (Termhelper) developed by the ROSA project are now available in new versions.
  • The new version now supports installation to encrypted sections without entering a password when loading.
  • Remote launch delay when installing on BTRFS without a separate section/Boot in Ext2/3/4 has been added. In such configurations, the functionality of the preservation of the last loaded point in GRUB is automatically turned off.
  • The update also eliminates the problems with the work of the Reboot team.
