Debian 9 to be removed from main network of mirrors
On April 23, Debian 9 repositories (Stretch) will be taken off the main network of mirrors and moved to archive.debian.org. The announcement was made on this Debian mailing list.
Debian 9 was first released on June 18, 2017 and was supported regularly until July 18, 2020. However, under the expanded program “extended lts,” it will be supported in separate repositories until June 30, 2027 for AMD64, Armel, and I386 architectures. These repositories will receive updates for limited package sets with the elimination of vulnerabilities.
Users who continue to rely on Debian 9 should take note of its removal from the main archive and make preparations for the transition.
This step is in line with the Debian project’s commitment to supporting its operating systems for a reasonable amount of time and maintaining their security.
