Apple Prevented $2B Fraud Last Year

Apple has revealed its progress in fighting mobile fraud, as it blocked 428,000 developer accounts for suspicious activity and deactivated 282 million fraudulent user accounts in 2022, according to Google’s statistics on “bad applications”. The tech giant also rejected nearly 400,000 apps for violating privacy rules, blocked almost 105 million attempts to create developers suspected of fraud, and removed 24,000 apps for using bait-and-switch methods. Apple also blocked around 714,000 fraudulent accounts from making future transactions and prevented $2.09bn in fraudulent transactions in 2022. The App Store receives visits from over 650 million users worldwide every week, and has 36 million legitimate developer accounts.
