Tor Browser 12.0.6 and Tails 5.13 released

Tails 5.13, a specialized distribution for anonymous exit to the network, has been released. The Amnesic Incognito Live System is based on the Debian package base and uses the Tor system for anonymous exit. The default packet filter blocks all connections except traffic via the Tor network, while encryption is used for storage of user data between launches.

The ISO-image, capable of running in Live-mode and sized at 1.2 GB, is available for download from the official website. The new version includes several changes such as the use of the LUKS2 format for new permanent storage facilities and encrypted sections by default.

In addition, the Curl utility is now included for obtaining and sending data over the network using various protocols, with all requests being carried out through the Tor network by default. The Tor Browser has also been updated to version 12.0.6, which is synchronized with the code base of Firefox 102.11 ESR.

Moreover, the new version of Tor Browser has eliminated 17 vulnerabilities, as well as resolved a problem related to GitLab.torproject.org/issues/40501. Those with existing encrypted sections based on LUKS1 can transfer them to LUKS2 format using special tools provided by the developers.

Overall, Tails 5.13 offers improved security and performance, making it a recommended option for anonymous browsing.
