Dark Web: A Cloak and Dagger Online Subculture
A subterranean layer of the internet called the Dark Web is back in the spotlight once again thanks to the latest hacking scandal to rock the web. Distinguished from the internet we all know and love, the Dark Web is a shady internet-underworld that’s out of site from the average web user. Instead, anonymous networks are needed to access it – networks that are secure from any prying eyes.
The Dark Web is essentially a shadowy underground network that’s not indexed by search engines like Google, and can only be accessed through certain anonymous networks. It’s notorious for its role in the sale of illegal goods and for the keeping of illegal activities and communications anonymous. Indeed, the Dark Web is an anonymous network that provides unparalleled levels of security and privacy, thanks to its encrypted transmission methods and the fact that it’s mainly written in programming languages like C, C++, and Python.
Though it’s anonymity has benefits such as free-speech and protection from government surveillance, the Dark Web is often used as a space for identity thieves, counterfeiters, weapons dealers, and other unsavory characters to conduct business. Critics argue that its anonymity makes it all the more difficult to regulate and control.
