American software company Adobe is automatically extending licenses to its Russian users without charge due to ongoing payment issues with Russian banks. According to TASS, the extension applies only to individual subscriptions that were purchased through Adobe’s official website and tied to a card. The move is seen as a goodwill gesture from the company to support its customers during difficult times.
The extension feature has reportedly been in place for six months and allows customers to extend their existing subscription but not purchase a new one. The CEO of game studio Ninsar.gakes, Egor Sechinsky, has confirmed that his Adobe subscription has been active for a year without any payment required. Speaking at a recent internet forum, Sechinsky lauded Adobe’s generosity towards its Russian users.
In March 2022, Adobe halted the sale of new products and services in Russia and blocked access to its cloud storage services to Russian users. In April 2022, the company announced that it would allow corporate users of the VIP sales channel in Russia to extend their licenses via the Softline Store.
Despite these efforts, individual Russian users faced payment issues that prevented them from accessing their Adobe subscriptions until the company introduced automatic license extensions. The move has been welcomed by Russian users struggling to access Adobe’s popular graphics and video programs such as Photoshop, Lightroom, and Premiere Pro.
