Red Hat has released its new Linux distribution, Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.2, for several architectures, including IBM System Z, ARM64, and X86_64. The distribution includes ready-made installation images that are available for Red Hat Customer Portal users. Developers can also use free assemblies like CentOS Stream and ISO images. The initial texts of RPM packages are posted in Git-reces CentOS. Additionally, the company has also presented Rhel 8.8 branches, which will be released soon, and currently available as a beta version.
The RHEL 9 branch aims to use the Centos Stream 9 package as a basis for an open development process. This project allows developers to control package preparation for RHEL and suggest changes. According to the 10-year-old support cycle, Rhel 9 will be supported until 2032.
Key changes incorporated in Rhel 9.2 include updated server and system packages such as Nginx 1.22, Openssl 3.0.7, and Samba 4.17.5. The distribution also includes updates for developers, such as new GCC toolsets, which include C and C++ compilers, Rust Toolset 1.66, and PostgreSQL 15. Moreover, users can apply updates to the offline mode system using the Offline-uPGRADE team, which is implemented in the package manager DNF.
