Chrome OS 113 Released

Stable Channel Update Released for Chrome OS 113

Google has announced the release of its operating system, Chrome OS 113, based on the Linux nucleus, UPSTART system manager, EBUILD/Portage assembly, and open components of Chrome 113. While the user encirclement of Chrome OS is limited to Web-browser, the system includes a full-fledged interface, desktop, and taskbar. Source texts are distributed under the free license Apache 2.0. The assembly of Chrome OS 113 is available for the majority of relevant models of the Chromebook.

The configurator of Chrome OS 113 now allows the user to preview selected screensavers. In the file manager, there are more visual indicators showing the state of synchronization of specific files and catalogs posted in Google Drive. Additionally, the administrator’s interface now includes the possibility of remote restarting any controlled client systems. When connecting or disconnecting a USB device on centrally controlled systems, the transfer of information about the firmware version is sent to the telemetry administrator.

Google has also removed the possibility of opening resources despite errors of HTTPS connections in the Chrome Apps app. The support for the use of the NewWindow event to attach the WebView element in another window is still available.

The main changes and updates can be found on Google’s official blog, Chromebook Community and Chrome OS Beta Community. Users can download and install Chrome OS 113 on their relevant Chromebook devices, while an editorial office offers Chrome OS Flex for use on ordinary computers.
