Apple Fixes Vulnerability in AirPods and Beats Headphones
Apple has announced that it has eliminated a vulnerability in its AirPods and Beats headphones that could have allowed hackers to eavesdrop on users. According to reports from Macrumors, a corresponding document has been published on the company’s website.
The vulnerability impacted all models of AirPods, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max, except for the first generation of AirPods. However, Apple has already addressed the problem for branded accessories with the recent release of 5E133 update last month. This was followed by another update, 5E135, for the company’s headphones. It is not clear what changes the firmware brings.
The latest firmware, version 5B66, for Beats Fit Pro and Powerbeats Pro headphones, eliminates the possibility of unauthorized access, according to the document released by Apple.
Users of AirPods and Beats headphones can automatically update their firmware if the headphones are connected to devices running iOS or macOS. Android users can use the Beats application to update their headphones.
Apple has been proactive in addressing vulnerabilities to protect its users from potential privacy-related risks. The latest firmware update for its headphones is another example of its efforts to prevent hacking attempts that could compromise user safety.
