The anonymous Sudan hacker group has claimed responsibility for paralyzing Israel’s Iron Dome and early warning system, which reportedly remained inoperable after the group’s attack. The announcement was made following a missile attack that resulted in three people being injured. Although the early warning system and Iron Dome allegedly continued to work despite the group’s claims.
Anonymous Sudan later apologized for the delay in disabling the systems and attributed it to weak internet connections and frequent interruptions in Sudan.
During the attack on May 2, 16 missiles hit a non-built-up area, while four were intercepted by the Iron Dome. Two missiles landed within the city. This means that 67% of the missiles were successfully intercepted, demonstrating the capabilities of Israel’s air defense system.
As a precaution, the military is currently examining the performance of its air defense systems to ensure that the correct settings have been established for its territories. Due to the varying intensity of past missile attacks, it is difficult to compare the success rates of the systems accurately.
During Operation “On the Dawn,” which took place in 2012, over 1100 missiles were launched, and 96% of them were intercepted by the Iron Dome. Since then, the success rate of the system has decreased. During a missile attack on Lebanon, the Iron Dome was successful in intercepting 92% of the missiles.
