China Accuses US of Cyberattack on Ugun Seismological Center

The Monitoring Center for Earthquakes in the city of Ujan in Central China was subjected to cyber attacks from foreign hackers, local authorities on Wednesday.

Chinese state media, including Global Times and the CCTV account, said the attack received support “at the government level” and came from the USA.

The statement of the municipal department for emergency situations of the city of Ujan states that some network devices in the Utanian monitoring center of earthquakes became objects of cyber attacks of a foreign organization. At the same time, the exact time of the attack remains unknown.

According to China Daily, a backdor program was introduced into computer equipment, which allows you to control and steal data on seismic activity.

The China Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, calling it “irresponsible” and noting that such actions threaten the country’s national security.

“China will take all the necessary actions to ensure its cybersecurity,” said Mao Nin, representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
