July 26, 2022
The Moscow City Court has sentenced Ilya Sachkov, the founder of Group-Ib, to 14 years in a maximum security colony after finding him guilty of Gosizmen (Article 275 of the Criminal Code). Sachkov’s defense plans to appeal the court’s decision.
Earlier, the prosecutor had requested a sentence of 18 years in prison for Sachkov, while the defense argued for his acquittal.
The case against Sachkov, known as the Stateizer, was brought before the Moscow City Court on June 26. As the investigation materials were classified as “Top Secret,” the trial was held behind closed doors.
Ilya Sachkov was arrested and placed in pre-trial detention in September 2021. According to investigators, he allegedly leaked classified cyberosis data to foreign intelligence services, causing damage to Russian interests. Sachkov maintains his innocence.
