Apple’s Screen Time system, designed to help parents limit their children’s device usage, has been found to have errors that prevent certain settings from being preserved correctly for several months, according to the Wall Street Journal. Despite Apple’s promise to fix the problem in May, it still persists.
The Screen Time system allows parents to control and restrict their children’s device usage. One of its key settings, called Downtime, is supposed to block access to the entire device during certain hours. However, the Wall Street Journal discovered that this setting does not work properly. In one case, the Downtime restriction had to be entered three times before it actually took effect. This means that while the setting was not working, children were able to use the device beyond the limits set by their parents.
Apple has acknowledged the existence of the error and stated that they are actively working on fixing it, although no specific timeline has been announced. The company has emphasized the importance of the Screen Time system and continues to release updates to address the issue.
