AI Replaces Hazing: Kazakhstani Soldiers Embrace Digital Training

Kazakhstan Ministry of Defense plans to use artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor the behavior of soldiers in the barracks and prevent violations of the charter, according to a report by CyberNews. Deputy Minister of Defense, Darkhan Akhmediev, announced that over 50,000 surveillance cameras have been installed in military units, and there are plans to integrate them into a centralized system with AI capabilities.

Akhmediev explained that the AI system will be able to detect if a soldier has fallen and will send a signal for attention. This information will be forwarded to the Higher Command or the National Defense Control Center. Additionally, the system will analyze crowds and check if staff members are present, as well as keep track of vehicles entering military facilities.

The pilot project is set to begin this year, with a full launch of the platform planned for 2024. These changes come as part of Kazakhstan’s efforts to strengthen its defense potential. Last year, the country revised its military doctrine to address current security threats.

President Kasim-Zhomart Tokaev has emphasized the importance of digitizing the military command system using modern technologies. The introduction of “smart” cameras is expected to enhance discipline among military personnel.
