Russia Enters Satellite Internet Race with Bureau 1440

Russia launches its own project of satellite Internet. The company “Bureau 1440”, which is part of the “X-Holding”, successfully brought three communication satellites into low orbit, which will provide broadband access to the network. According to plans, by 2027 the service will become commercial and will be available not only in Russia, but also in other countries. This was reported by the Minzifra.

Satellites are designed completely on Russian technologies and have a high data transfer rate and a low delay. According to the Ministry of Construction, you can already watch videos in the HD-quality, and in the future the speed will be increased to 100 Mbps and above. For the implementation of the project, it is planned to launch more than 900 satellites by 2035, which will be launched 10-12 pieces at a time on Soyuz-2 missiles.

Minzifra reports that the current data transfer speed to the device reaches 12 Mbps, and the time required to transmit data from the server to the user is 41 millisecond.

Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadaev praised the Bureau 1440 team for their professionalism, ambitions and drives. He expressed confidence that they would cope with all the technical tasks and wished them success in the implementation of the project. He also noted that satellite Internet is one of the directions for the development of the digital infrastructure of Russia, along with 5G and fiber fiber.

In addition to the project “Bureau 1440”, there are other similar projects in the world that also seek to create a global network of satellite Internet. The most famous of them is the SpaceX Starlink Ilona Mask, which has already launched more than 20,000 satellites into orbit and began to provide services in some countries. Another project is OneWeb British entrepreneur Greg Wyler, who launched about 300 satellites, but faced financial and legal problems. There is also an O3B project SES, which uses satellites in the average orbit to ensure an Internet access in remote regions. All these projects have their own characteristics, advantages and disadvantages, and compete with each other in the satellite Internet market.

Satellite Internet in a low orbit is a type of Internet that uses satellites located at an altitude of 160 to 2000 km above the ground to transmit data between the user and the provider. The main advantage of such an Internet is a smaller signal delay than the
