Codeweavers has announced the release of the package crossover 23.0, which is based on the Wine code and designed to run Windows programs and games. Codeweavers is a key participant in the Wine project and sponsors its development, returning all innovations implemented for its commercial products back to the project. In the new version:
- The code base has been updated to the Wine 8.0.1 version, with Wine 7.7 being used in previous versions.
- The engine wine mono with the implementation of the .NET platform has been updated to version 7.4.
- The package vkd3d with the implementation of Direct3d 12, which works through calls to the Vulkan graphics API, has been updated to version 1.8.
- The DXVK layer with the implementation of DXGI (DirectX Graphics Infrastructure), Direct3D 9, 10, and 11 on top of the Vulkan API, has been updated to version 1.10.3.
- Support for the EA App delivery platform developed by Electronic Arts has been added. This includes support for launching games such as The Sims 4, Titanfall 2, and Mass Effect Legendary Edition.
- The graphic interface now has support for application removal.
- On macOS, initial support for games based on DirectX 12, such as Diablo II: Resurrected and Diablo IV, has been implemented. Initial support for geometric shaders has also been added. Issues in Risk of Rain 2, Tekken 7, Octopath Traveler, Street Fighter V, Astroneer, Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries, and Trailmakers have been resolved.
- The Linux version now supports Diablo IV.
- In Linux rings based on Wayland, it is now possible to launch the Office 365 office package.
