Developers of the Debian project have recently announced the implementation of the port “loong64” for systems based on the architecture of the Loongson 3 5000 processors. This port will be utilizing the RISC ISA, which is similar to MIPS and RISC-V.
The implementation of support for the new port has been added to the assembly infrastructure and the official Debian archive. Currently, at this stage of integration, a package base called Loongarch is available in Debian-ports. This package base consists of approximately 200 packages, which will gradually expand over time.
