Distribution Siduction 2023.1 Released

Release Notes 2023.1.0: Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

The release of the project siduction 2023.1, a desktop-oriented Linux distribution based on Debian Sid (Unstable) took place. Siduction is a fork of aptosid, which was separated in July 2011. The main difference from Aptosid is the use of a more recent version of KDE from the experimental repository of QT-KDE as the user environment. The available downloads include assemblies based on KDE (3.1 GB), XFCE (2.7 GB), LXQT (3 GB), as well as the minimalistic “NOX” assembly (1 GB), which does not include a graphical environment and is intended for users who prefer to set up their system themselves. Unofficial assemblies with GNOME, CINMON, and Mate are also available separately.

Updates in the New Release

The new release synchronizes the package base with the Debian Unstable repository. It includes updated versions of the Linux 6.4 kernel, Systemd 254 system manager, and Calamares installer. The available desktop versions include KDE Plasma 5.27.7.1, LXQT 1.3.0, and XFCE 4.18.
