Polish special services have launched an investigation into a series of cyber attacks targeting the country’s railway infrastructure. According to Polish media reports, unidentified hackers were able to gain unauthorized access to the railway’s radio frequencies, resulting in disruptions to train movements in the northwest region of Poland.
At the time of the incident, the hackers transmitted a signal that compelled trains near the city of Shchezin to come to an immediate halt. As a result, approximately 20 trains were affected. However, thanks to swift response and efficient alternative routes, train services were quickly restored, minimizing lengthy interruptions.
Stanislav Zarin, a senior official from the Security Service, confirmed that the incident is actively being investigated by the Polish Internal Security Service, known as ABW. Zarin highlighted that at this stage of the investigation, no possibilities are being ruled out.
“We are aware that there have been ongoing attempts to destabilize Poland for several months,” stated Mr. Zarin.
