Apple Publishes Initial Low-Level System Components of MacOS 13.4 and 13.5
Apple has recently released the initial low-level system components of the operating system MacOS 13.4 and 13.5, known as Ventura. These components, which are part of the open source software, include the Darwin components and various programs and libraries unrelated to the graphical user interface (GUI). In total, the release consists of 174 packages containing source texts.
One of the notable components that Apple has published is XNU, which is the hybrid core of the Darwin open project. XNU combines the Mach core, components from FreeBSD, and the C++ API IOKIT project for driver development. The original source code of XNU for the upcoming MacOS release is available in code snippets.
Simultaneously, Apple has also made public the open components used in the mobile operating system IOS 16.5 and 16.6. The release includes Webkit and Libiconv, which are two essential packages for the iOS platform.
