Author, Key Developer of VIM Passes Away

Braham Gollenar, also known as BRAM MOOLENAAR, the author of the VIM text editor, has passed away. He dedicated 31 years of his life to the development of the VIM project, making numerous contributions. Bram was responsible for the majority of the changes made to the project, with an impressive record of 16.5 thousand commits and adding 3.5 million lines of code. In comparison, the second most active developer of VIM contributed only 239 commits and 69 thousand lines of code. Bram’s last involvement with the VIM community was on July 8, as evidenced by his contributions on GitHub.

Bram’s relatives have stated that he passed away due to a rapidly progressive disease, which caused his condition to deteriorate within a few weeks.
