Kirov Resident Caught in Medical Center Hack

In Kirov, a criminal case has been instituted against a resident of the regional center suspected of unlawfully accessing protected computer information using malware, according to the Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kirov region.

The investigation revealed that the suspect, driven by selfish motives, disabled the protection of the information system of a regional medical information and analytical center. This center is categorized as critical infrastructure in the Russian Federation. Furthermore, the suspect altered the system’s information, causing harm and posing a threat to its functionality.

The unlawful activities were discovered by the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kirov Region. Currently, a criminal investigation is underway to determine all the details surrounding the commission of the crime.

If convicted, the suspect could face a prison sentence of up to five years.
