Genuineus experts have recently discovered suspicious activity in the latest version of their cybersecurity solution, indicating a possible hacking attempt.
Based in South Korea, Genuineus specializes in cybersecurity and provides advanced solutions to protect information and data from cyber threats. Their range of products and services includes antivirus software, firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other tools to ensure cybersecurity.
Upon learning about the potential cyber attack, Genuineus promptly alerted their customers who utilize their solution, as well as the Korean Internet Development Agency (KISA). An investigation is currently underway to determine whether the incident led to actual hacking of Genuineus clients or if the suspicious activity was identified and addressed in time.
A representative from Genuineus confirmed the discovery of suspicious hacking signs in their cybersecurity solution, stating, “We are closely collaborating with KISA to investigate the matter thoroughly and share the findings once the investigation is complete.”
Genuineus’s cybersecurity solution is widely deployed in both the public and private sectors in South Korea. It is also extensively used by many cryptocurrency companies, which are frequent targets of hackers aiming to steal assets. With the additional vulnerability detected within Genuineus systems, even ordinary cyber attacks can potentially cause significant harm.
The representative of Genuineus specifically mentioned that the company has already discussed preventive measures with all potentially affected customers to mitigate any potential consequences. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
