Hector Martin Announces Translation of ASAHI Linux Distribution to Use CALMARES Installer
Hector Martin, the founder of the Linux porting project for MAC computers equipped with ARM-based Apple M1 and M2 processors, has announced the translation of the ASAHI Linux distribution to use the CALMARES installer S. The translation is based on Fedora and Arch Linux and aims to unify the installation interface of the editorial offices. By using CALMARES, specific distributions of Linux are no longer a requirement, and the QT library is utilized to create the user interface. Martin’s announcement can be found here.
CALMARES has already been adopted and implemented through patches to solve keyboard input settings issues with Wayland. This solves the problem for dialog assemblies based on Fedora packages and KDE shells, which only support the WAYLAND protocol. The incorporation of CALMARES provides a more streamlined installation process and eliminates the need for the X-server and SetXKBMAP utility.
