Nitrux 3.0 Distribution Launches with NX Desktop

Nitrux 3.0 has been released. The new version is built on the package base of Debian, KDE technologies, and the initialization system openrc. Nitrux 3.0 offers its own desktop environment known as nx desktop, which is a superstructure over KDE Plasma. The distribution focuses on providing a seamless user experience on both desktop systems and mobile devices using the maui library.

To enhance the functionality of the distribution, Nitrux 3.0 is developing a set of typical user applications based on the maui library. These applications can be used for various purposes and are compatible with both desktop and mobile environments. Nitrux 3.0 adopts the use of self-sufficient Appimage packages for installing additional applications. The full loading image of Nitrux 3.0 is 3.3 GB in size. The project is distributed under free licenses and the source codes are available on GitHub.

The NX Desktop, which is Nitrux’s own desktop environment, offers a unique design style. It includes various features such as its own system tray implementation, a notification output center, and various plasmoids. Users can also benefit from applications developed using the mauikit framework. Notable applications include the Index file manager (can be used by Dolphin), Note text editor, Station terminal emulator, VVAVE Music player, CLIP video player, NX Software Center application control center, and PIX Viewer.
