Tails 5.20 Released: Specialized Distribution for Anonymous Network Exit
The release of a specialized distribution called Tails 5.20 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System) has been announced. Tails 5.20 is based on the Debian package base and is specifically designed for anonymous exit to the network. The Tor system provides anonymous access to Tails, and the default packet filter blocks all connections except traffic via the Tor network. User data is encrypted for storage in the mode of conservation between launches. The ISO image for download is available at a size of 1.2 GB.
In the new version, the following updates and improvements have been made:
- The Tor Browser has been updated to version 13.0.4, synchronized with the code base of Firefox 115.5.0 ESR. This update includes fixes for 12 recognized dangerous vulnerabilities (Pass14).
- The version of the mail client Thunderbird has been updated to 115.5.0.
- To protect against hidden browser identification, the ADGUARD filtration list for Ublock Origin, tied to the language of the current session, is disabled.
- Issues with the activation of permanent storage have been resolved, and translation errors have been corrected.
- In the Whisperback interface, it is now simplified to send errors with the necessary diagnostic information.
