Google Publishes Fuchsia 14 Operating System for Google Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max
Google published an issue of the operating system Fuchsia 14, which serves as the basis for preliminary firmware updates for the Google Nest Hub and Nest Hub Max. Fuchsia OS has been under development by Google since 2016, aimed at addressing scalability issues and enhancing security, which are already present in the Android platform.
Main Changes in Fuchsia 14:
- The capabilities of Starnix have been improved, enabling the launch of unmodified Linux programs through the broadcast of the systemic interfaces of the Linux kernel into contacts to the corresponding Fuchsia subsystems. The new version also adds support for mounting remote file systems, Xattrs for symbolic links to a system call, trace points in mmap(), expanded information in /proc/pid/state, support for various functions like mutex, O_TMPFILE, pidfd_getfd, sys_reboot(), Timer_create, Timer_delete, Times() and PTRACE(), and involvement of System file cache in the EXT4 implementation.
- The Bluetooth stack has been enhanced with added sound support in the HSP Bluetooth Profile (Handset Profile) and delays in broadcasting sound through the A2DP profile.
- In Matter, the standard for connecting devices in a smart house, support for renewal groups and the ability to process transitional states for backlight control has been implemented.
- In the network stack for all platforms, support has been added for
