Orange Pi Expands Product Line with New Orange Pi Aipro Single Board Computer (SBC)
Orange Pi, a competitor of Raspberry Pi, has announced the expansion of its product line with the introduction of the Orange Pi Aipro. Unlike previous models, this new single board computer is equipped with an ASCEND chip from Huawei, deviating from the traditional processors used by the company such as Rockchip, Allwinner, or ARM.
The Orange Pi Aipro measures 107 x 68 mm, making it larger than the Orange Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi 5, which have dimensions of 85 x 56 mm. The Orange Pi Aipro is powered by an unspecified 64-bit Huawei ASCEND chip with a quad-core architecture and an integrated AI processor. According to the manufacturer, this setup enables the device to achieve AI performance at 8/20 TOPS. Users have the option to choose between configurations with 8 or 16 GB of LPDDR4X-3200 RAM.
One of the notable features of the Orange Pi Aipro is the inclusion of an M.2 2280 slot on the rear panel, supporting NVMe and SATA drives. Additionally, it has an EMMC slot that complies with the EMMC5.1 HS400 specification, allowing users to expand the memory capacity by an additional 32-256 GB. The device also includes a TF slot for memory cards.
Connectivity options offered by the Orange Pi Aipro are plentiful. It supports Wi-Fi 5 with Bluetooth 4.2 for wireless connections, as well as a standard Gigabit Ethernet port for wired connections. The device is equipped with two HDMI 2.0 ports that can handle 4K at 60 FPS, along with one 2-lane MIPI DSI connection. Additionally, it features two 2-lane MIPI interfaces for connecting Raspberry Pi Camera Module-compatible cameras, and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
The Orange Pi Aipro also includes buttons on board for quick access to basic functions such as shutdown, reset, or changing the start mode. Furthermore, it features a connector for connecting a 12-volt fan.
In terms of peripheral device connectivity, the Orange Pi Aipro provides two USB 3.0 ASB ports and one USB 3.0 type port. Another USB port is dedicated specifically for connecting the power adapter. The standard 40-pin GPIO connector supports various interfaces including GPIO, UART, I2C, SPI, I2S, and PWM. Supported operating systems for the Orange Pi Aipro
