Fedora Unveils New Version of Slimbook Laptop

Project Fedora Introduces New Fedora Slimbook 14 Ultrabook

Project Fedora presented a new version of the ultrabook Fedora Slimbook, now equipped with a 14-inch screen. This new model is more compact and lighter compared to its predecessor, which came with a 16-inch screen. Notable differences include the keyboard design, featuring the removal of side digital keys and a more familiar cursor control key layout. Additionally, the video card has been upgraded to Intel Iris X 4K, replacing the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, and the battery capacity has increased to 99wh from 82WH. The slimbook was developed in collaboration with Slimbook, a Spanish equipment supplier.

The Fedora Slimbook is optimized for the Fedora Linux distribution and has undergone rigorous testing to ensure a high level of stability and software compatibility with the hardware. The initial cost of the device is €1299, while the 16-inch model starts at €1799. As part of the collaboration, 3% of the revenue from the sale of devices will be donated to the GNOME Foundation. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the project, a €100 discount has been announced. Participants involved in the development of Fedora are eligible for an additional €100 discount.
