Hilb Group Insurer’s Staff Lose Customer Financial Data

Clients of The Hilb Group Operating Company, LLC (HILB) have been notified of a cybersecurity incident involving a phishing attack. The discovery of “suspicious activity” in several postal accounts of employees was reported by the publication Cybernews here.

The incident, which took place between December 1, 2022, and January 12, 2023, was confirmed in a notification sent to clients. The company conducted an investigation in collaboration with third-party IB specialists and determined that personal data of certain customers had been stolen. This includes names and Social Security Numbers (SSN).

Financial data was also compromised, with account numbers or cards, security codes, online banking passwords, or PIN codes being disclosed. The breach affected a total of 81,539 individuals. As a response, the company is offering affected individuals the opportunity to monitor their financial transactions for a period of 12 months. Currently, the company’s websites are unavailable.

The Hilb Group, which was established in 2009, is an independent insurance broker that provides services in the areas of property insurance, accident insurance, employee insurance, and pension provision.
