The release of a specialized distribution, Tails 5.19 (The Amnesic Incognito Live System), has been announced by the Tor Project. Tails is built on the Debian package base and is designed for anonymous internet access through the Tor network. By default, Tails blocks all connections except traffic through Tor. User data is encrypted for storage between sessions. To download Tails 5.19, an ISO-image is available for live-mode usage, with a file size of 1 GB.
One of the new features added to Tails 5.19 is the ability to close selected Tor circuits through the ONONIC Circuits interface. This allows users to replace slow traffic paths or diagnose issues.
Tor Browser has been updated to version 13.0.1, synchronized with the code base of Firefox 115.4.0 ESR. This update addresses the securedrop package as well. Securedrop allows anonymous document transfers to publications and journalists. The new version also includes the SQ-KEYRING-LINTER package, which enhances the cryptographic parameters of PGP-keys stored in isolated systems, as requested by users of the service.
