Douglas Demio, SUSE Manager responsible for marketing and interaction with the Opensuse community, has announced a decision to conduct an additional vote for the choice of the logo. This decision comes in response to criticism received from participants in the project regarding the voting process and the lack of an option to keep the current logo. The logo competition previously considered the votes of all participants, including those not involved in development and not related to Opensuse, which did not adequately consider the collective identity of the developers.
During discussions, it was suggested that participants in the Opensuse project should have the opportunity to influence the selection of a new logo. It was also emphasized that SUSE, the owner of the current logo rights, should be involved in the decision-making process regarding rebranding. As a result, it was decided to give project participants the chance to express their opinion. A separate vote will be held among members of the Opensuse project, offering the choice between the existing logo and a proposed new design.
