With Libreelec, users can easily turn any computer into a media center that is as user-friendly as a DVD player or television. The distribution is designed to be hassle-free, with an automatic system for loading and installing updates when connected to the internet. Users can also expand the functionality of the distribution using add-ons from a separate repository developed by the project’s developers.
The distribution is built on its own developments and does not rely on the package base of other distributions. In addition to the standard capabilities of KODI, Libreelec provides several additional functions to simplify the user experience. This includes a special configuration add-on for network connections, LCD screen parameter control, and the ability to allow or prohibit automatic installation of updates. Other features include remote control compatibility (via infrared or Bluetooth), file sharing through the Samba server, built-in Bittorrent Transmission, and automatic detection of local and external drives.
