Ubisoft hacked again

The famous French developer and publisher of the Ubisoft video game confirmed the fact of cyber attacks, which led to temporary disorders in the work of their games, systems, and services.

According to a report by VX-Underground, an unknown hacker attacked Ubisoft on December 20, gaining access to the company’s internal systems for approximately 48 hours. The hacker attempted to withdraw about 900 GB of data but lost access before succeeding. As a precautionary measure, Ubisoft reset passwords for all personnel and commenced an investigation into the incident.

Ubisoft has now confirmed that they are investigating a data security incident after security researchers from VX-Underground shared screenshots that appear to be from the company’s internal services.

The attacker claimed to have accessed Ubisoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Confluence server, and Mongodb Atlas panels as part of the hack, sharing information about these services.

Although Mongodb Atlas recently reported a hacking incident on their systems, it appears to be unrelated to this incident involving Ubisoft.

The attackers informed VX-Underground that they had attempted to steal user data from Rainbow 6 Siege but were discovered and denied access before succeeding.

This is not the first time Ubisoft has faced hacking attempts. In 2020, the company was hacked by the Egregor Gang, who published parts of the source code of Ubisoft’s game, Watch Dogs. Now, in 2022, Ubisoft has experienced another cyber attack that disrupted their games, systems, and services.
