News Report: Russia Takes Steps to Ensure Accuracy of Artificial Intelligence Generated Data
The Russian government, led by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, has announced plans to tackle inaccurate data created using artificial intelligence technologies. This initiative comes as part of the National Project “Economics of Data”. The Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Communications (Mincifers) has been instructed to develop measures to identify and address inaccuracies in data by March 19, 2024, according to an official statement on the government’s website.
President Vladimir Putin has also emphasized the importance of artificial intelligence during a direct line and press conference held on December 14. He acknowledged the inevitability of AI technology advancement and expressed the need for Russia to become a global leader in this field.
Furthermore, the Cabinet of Council of Minzifra has outlined additional directives to be fulfilled by various ministries. Interagency working groups, in collaboration with Mincifers, have until March 19, 2024, to develop strategies for domestic equipment production for data transfer networks and to establish regulations regarding computing power, data market formation, and data access.
In a separate set of instructions, Rosstat, Minzifra, and the Ministry of Economic Development have been given until February 16, 2024, to address data quality standards. The Ministry of Construction and the Ministry of Economic Development, responsible for the digital Code of the Russian Federation, are expected to create support measures aimed at improving data quality and increasing demand from market participants by April 17.
