Angie Software has recently published the release of their high-performance HTTP server and multi-purpose proxy server, Angie 1.4.0. This new release is a branch from NGINX, and it was developed by a group of former project developers who quit F5 Network. The initial texts of Angie are available under the BSD license. Angie has received compatibility certificates with Russian operating systems Red OS, Astra Linux Special Edition, deer Chrome 12 server, alt, and FSTEK version of alt.
The development of this web server began last fall and has received a $1 million investment for its development. Valentin Bartenev, the leader of the Nginx Unit team, Ivan Poluyanov, former head of front-line developers at Rambler and Mail.ru, Oleg Mamontov, head of the NGINX Inc technical support team, and [email protected] are among the co-owners of the company web server.
The release of Angie 1.4.0 brings several changes:
- The module http_proxy now supports the use of the HTTP/3 protocol when connecting with higher-priority servers. Support for HTTP/3 client connections has been present in Angie since version 1.2.0. Directives such as proxy_http_version, proxy_quic_*, and proxy_http3_* are now available to configure proxy connections based on the HTTP/3 and QUIC protocols. HTTP/3 utilizes the QUIC (Quick UDP Internet Connections) protocol as a transport for HTTP/2. QUIC was developed by Google in 2013 as an alternative to TCP+TLS, solving issues related to connection setup and packet loss during data transfer.
