Google Releases Chrome 120 and Stable Chromium

Google published the release of Web-browser Chrome 120. At the same time, the stable release of the free project Chromium, acting as the basis of Chrome, is available. Chrome browser differs from Chromium.

Google provides key features for Chrome, including a system for sending a notification in case of collapse, modules for playing video content (DRM), an automatic installation system of updates, constant inclusion of Sandbox insulation, and supplying the key to Google API and transmission when searching for RLZ parameters. For those who need more time to update, the Extended Stable branch is separately supported, accompanied by 8 weeks. The next issue of Chrome 121 is scheduled for January 23.

Basic Changes in Chrome 120:

  • Began experiment to disconnect supporting third-party cookies, exhibited when contacting sites that are different from the domain of the current page. Similar cookies are used to track the user movements between sites in the code of advertising networks, web-analytics widgets, and Web analytics systems. In January 2024, third-party cookies will be disconnected for 1% of browser users. Changes are promoted as part of the initiative Privacy Sandbox, aimed at achieving a compromise between users’ need to maintain confidentiality and the desire of advertising networks and sites to monitor visitors.
