IBM and Meta have announced the establishment of the international community ai alliance, which aims to collaborate on the development of open technologies related to machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI).
The ai alliance brings together more than 50 companies, universities, organizations, and scientific institutions. Notable members include NASA, CERN, AMD, Intel, Oracle, Red Hat, Dell, Sony, Stability AI, Linux Foundation, and various universities such as California, Harvard, Boston, Illinois, Tokyo, Yale, and Cornell.
The primary focus of the AI Alliance is to accelerate innovation in the field of AI and work on enhancing fundamental capabilities, safety, and trust in AI technologies. The project aims to:
- Develop and implement reference texts, standards, tools, and related resources for the development and use of AI systems. This includes creating tools to ensure security, protection, and trust in AI models and applications.
- Create an ecosystem of open machine learning models for different applications, including multilingual, scientific, and multimodal models.
- Develop accelerators for AI systems, specifically hardware accelerators.
- Provide developers and researchers with opportunities to study, implement, and experiment with open AI technologies.
- Create training materials and resources to educate about the benefits, risks, decisions, and regulations of AI.
- Promote safe open methods for developing AI systems and conduct studies on AI use cases using open technologies.
