Security researchers have recently discovered a new variation of the P2PinFect botnet, according to the Cado Security laboratory. This particular version of the botnet is specifically designed to target devices using the MIPS architecture. With this capability, the botnet now has the ability to attack routers and various Internet of Things (IoT) devices. As the number of IoT devices continues to grow, including consumer devices such as vehicles, smart home systems, wearable technology, medical devices, and remotely monitored devices, this discovery raises concerns about the security of these devices.
