The Transform Provider, an organization initially established by five hospitals in Canada to manage their IT systems, supplies, and payments, has recently been targeted by cyber attacks, leading to disruptions in its operational activities. As a consequence, patients have experienced delays in their treatments, with some procedures being postponed.
Transform has acknowledged the difficulties faced by these firms due to the cyber attack. The organization advises patients who have scheduled procedures in the coming days to prepare for the possibility of their procedures being rescheduled. At this time, it remains unclear whether any patient information has been compromised or leaked.
The hospitals affected by the cyber attacks include:
- Windsor Regional Hospital – one of the region’s largest emergency care hospitals
- Hotel Dieu Grace – a facility specializing in comprehensive medical, psychiatric, and rehabilitation care
- Erie Shores Healthcare – a major medical center in the region
- Hospice of Windsor-Essex – an institution providing care for older individuals
- Chatham-Kent Health Alliance – a universal public hospital
According to a joint statement released by the hospitals, affected patients can expect their procedures to either be rescheduled or offered alternative options. Individuals who have received medical services at these institutions are advised to exercise caution and skepticism when receiving reports from unknown sources or unexpected notifications from medical organizations.
